Vintage Record Cabinet

Just finished painting this vintage record cabinet.  I know, no one has records anymore but it is a great piece of Americana!  It can be used as a night stand, entry table or just about anything else you desire.  What would you use it for?

The chevron design using multiple colors of paint took some time but I love the results.  I think I will have to use the same method on a dresser or coffee table.

Mushrooms are AWESOME!  I painted these beauties at a friend's ceramic studio.

Cactus

You never know what treasures you will find out there when you go thrifting. Look at this great cactus I bought today! (Perhaps, I was the only one that wanted it but whatever, I think I scored! It is going to be great for photography and for staging. I may just throw some lights around it next Christmas.

Blue China Hutch

This one took a little while to figure out but I am very happy with the results.  It is actually perfect that it took so long because when I went to distress it, some of the other color choices that I tried out first showed through.

This is how she looked before I got ahold of her.  Well, I had only painted a little blue before I remembered to take a picture.  She was in good shape and I didn't need to make any repairs.

Can you see the citron and dark blue showing through the distressing?  I chose to paint the wire part with citron to blend in with it.

Just had to use my beautiful orchid in these pictures!  I've managed to keep it alive since Mother's Day.  Here is the final photograph:

Ahhh....I'm loving it!  I used Annie Sloan's Duck Egg Blue (over a few different colors as I was waiting for the piece to talk to me).  I distressed it first then used Van Dyke Brown to age it.  Finally, I sealed it with several coats of Polyurethane.  I am asking $175 for this beauty.

Art for the Soul

Painting has always been an outlet for me to "find" myself.  I love feeling creative and being able to create something that I am proud of at the end of the day.  I don't always create the perfect piece the first time but I am not afraid to change directions mid-stream.

This dresser was one I painted several years ago.  It was meant to be fun and happy and that is exactly what it makes me feel.  Going through a divorce has made me make choices and remember the things that make me happy.  Painting is just one of the things that makes me happy and I am so glad to be doing it again.  I hope my pieces also bring joy to their new owners.  Love that I can do what I like and develop it into a business at the same time.  Painting truly is...Art for the Soul!

Neoclassical Coffee Table

I picked up this gorgeous coffee table on the side of the road.  Of course, I didn't want to appear crazy so I marched up to the door and asked the lady if she was really getting rid of it.  She said yes, then offered to sell it to me.  Then, the really crazy part....I paid her!  I wanted it so bad.  I think it was just about $40 and money well spent for a piece that I really loved.

So, I took her home, cleaned her up, painted her with a satin gray, then distressed her with sanding and Van Dyke Brown glaze.  She is spectacular!  I just love fun pieces like this. I thought about painting her toenails but then decided that just might be a little too much for most people.

Turquoise Chest

Life is good!  I am feeling refreshed and ready to paint.  Don't you just love this turquoise chest?  I actually finished it several weeks ago but I was having a hard time parting with her.  It is a Lane chest and very well constructed.  The cushioned seat is covered with a quality velvet fabric.  Can you see how hard this could be for me to let go?

Beach Blue Chest

It was the end of the day and I was feeling desperate...very desperate...so I purchased this ugly bad boy from a garage sale. This was my "challenge" project. I would call this upcycling at it's best...I hope my great granchchildren thank me for my effort! He is now lined with a French toile wallpaper (after a thorough cleaning) and painted with a beachy blue on the outside. This fellow is $50, let me know if you'd like to take him home.

Now for the after pictures!

Lilac & Coral Lingerie Dresser

So, I finally finished the Lilac and Coral Lingerie Dresser and it is magnificent!  I absolutely love everything about it.  Sure is going to be hard to part with this piece.

It is painted in Lilac Breeze (don't you just love that name) and Desert Coral.  Lilac Breeze is a paint from The Plaster Paint Company and the coral is Behr Paint.  There is some light distressing on the drawers to allow the gold edges to show through.  The entire piece was aged with Van Dyke Brown from Sherwin Williams.  It is sealed with several coats of Polyurethane for long lasting durability.  The dimensions are 49"h x 18 1/2"w x 13"d.

I love the peek of color you get when you open the drawers.  It's like a secret waiting to be shared!  You might just want to leave them casually opened all the time.

Each drawer is lined with beautiful lavender scented paper...mmm...wish you could smell it!

Let me know if you are interested in this beauty.  It is $325 if you purchase it directly from me.  I will be taking it to Paisley Pearl in Jenks later this week.
